Hamas has expressed its solidarity with Jordan and keenness on its security and stability.
Political bureau member of Hamas Ezzet al-Resheq said in a press statement on Sunday that Jordan is the “strategic depth of our (Palestinian) cause”.
He affirmed that the Palestinian and Jordanian peoples are interlinked in deeply-rooted historical fraternal relations.
Resheq pointed out that Jordan had always supported the Palestinian people and their steadfastness on their land and their sanctities.
Media reports said that Jordan had foiled a “complicated coup attempt” and that a number of senior officials were arrested on Saturday evening.
The reports also said that Prince Hamza bin al-Hussein the half-brother of King Abdullah II was held in house arrest and stripped of his personal guards.
