Hamas slams Abbas’s demand for recognizing two-state solution

Sunday 1-March-2009

GAZA (PIC)– The Hamas Movement on Sunday strongly criticized ex-PA chief Mahmoud Abbas for demanding any future Palestinian government to recognize the two-state solution considering it a dictate imposed by one party on other Palestinian parties.

In a press release received by the PIC Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum said that one Palestinian party cannot impose such dictate on the other parties that should reach a consensus on the program and shape of the government through the committee formed in this regard.

The spokesman added that the Palestinian government to be formed must be strong and active in order to be able to protect the interests of the Palestinian people warning that any preconditions might actually undermine the formation of this government.
