Hamas movement on Thursday denounced the latest statements by the Lebanese foreign minister Gebran Bassil at Rome conference in which he called for removing any Palestinian refugee who leaves Lebanon from the UNRWA records.
Hamas official in Lebanon Raafat Murra said that Bassil’s remarks violate the international laws the UN Charter and the resolutions of the Arab summits which recognize all rights of the Palestinian people.
Murra strongly condemned these statements and asked the Lebanese government to respect the rights of the Palestinian refugees.
“Unfortunately these statements coincide with US plans to liquidate the central Palestinian issues especially Jerusalem and refugees” the Hamas official added.
An international conference kicked off in Rome on Thursday to discuss the financial crisis hitting UNRWA and threatening its services to Palestinian refugees after the US had decided to withhold funds to the Agency.
