The Hamas Movement’s popular action council in Lebanon has expressed grave concern over UNRWA’s decision to shrink the multipurpose cash assistance it provides for each Palestinian family displaced from Syria.
“UNRWA’s unjust decision is a continuation of the Zio-American scheme aimed at cornering and undermining the agency and tightening the noose around it through stopping financial support for it as a prelude to ending its programs because it is a key witness to the crime of the Nakba and has a connection with the issue of the refugees and the right of return” the popular action council of Hamas in Lebanon said in a press release on Friday.
It urged UNRWA to immediately backtrack on its decision in this regard assume its responsibilities fully towards the Palestinian refugees and search for sources of funding for its programs in general and the emergency program for the Palestinians of Syria in particular.
UNRWA has announced its decision to suspend as of January 2022 the multipurpose cash aid (100 dollars) it provided monthly for each Palestinian family displaced from Syria and to give each family only 150 dollars in two installments during the year.
UNRWA will also shrink the modest cash it gives monthly to each Palestinian displaced from Syria from 27 to 25 dollars.
