Member of Hamas’s political bureau Ezzat Resheq strongly condemned “the criminal shootings” that targeted police and tourists in the southern Jordanian city of Karak on Sunday.
Resheq in his official Twitter account expressed his deepest condolences to the victims’ families.
“Oh Allah save Jordan and its people” he wrote.
At least 10 people have been killed and several others were injured by armed men who have holed themselves up in a medieval castle in the Jordanian city of Karak according to Jordanian officials.
Jordanian police said seven of their personnel were killed in the attack in addition to two civilians and a Canadian citizen.
The police declared late Sunday that its forces battled “an out-law terrorist group holed up inside the Karak Castle after it opened fire on a number of public security personnel and passers-by in the southern governorate of Karak”.
