Hamas suspends participation in consultations on comprehensive truce

Monday 4-December-2006

Gaza – The Hamas Movement on Sunday declared suspension of its participation in consultations on forging a comprehensive ceasefire with the Hebrew state explaining that the internal Palestinian conditions should be given priority at present.

Hamas in a statement a copy of which was obtained by the PIC said that a comprehensive ceasefire with the Hebrew state should fall in line with a broad national program covering the upcoming stage which the ceasefire might be part of and which needs more time to mature.

Hamas asked all factions and forces in the Palestinian arena to accord greater attention to the internal arena before discussing relations with the Israeli occupation which escalated its aggression on the Palestinian people after the resistance halted firing of homemade rockets at Israeli targets adjacent to the Gaza Strip.

A Palestinian statistics report indicated that 80 Israeli violations of the calm that went into effect last Sunday were recorded including cold-blooded assassinations arrests demolition of buildings and incursions.
