DAMASCUS (PIC)– The Hamas Movement hailed the efforts made by Libya to break the blockade and its vigorous attempt to send an aid ship to the Gaza Strip to alleviate the suffering of its besieged people.
In a press release Hamas also strongly denounced the Israeli occupation for its act of piracy against the Libyan aid ship Amal and forcing it to change course to Al-Arish port in Egypt.
It underlined that the Libyan ship’s attempt to break the siege is part of the great efforts made by the Arab and Muslim nations as well as the free people of world in this regard.
The reporter of Al-Jazeera satellite channel aboard the ship said Wednesday evening that the ship was forced to enter the Egyptian territorial waters after it was surrounded and pursued by eight Israeli gunboats.
He added that the ship docked at Al-Arish port but he had no idea if it would unload its cargo there.
For its part the Gaddafi international charity and development foundation said yesterday that Al-Amal aid ship underwent a cordon by the Israeli navy as four naval vessels were showing up on each side of the ship and added that the Ship was moving at a slower pace as the Israeli naval vessels were trying to force it to change course.
The Captain of the ship and the foundation’s mission coordinator on board confirmed that the Israeli navy threatened the ship crew and asked them to change course.
