The Hamas Movement has urged the UNRWA to backtrack on the decisions it had made between 2015 and 2016 regarding the reduction of services provided for the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.
This came in a statement released on Thursday by the Hamas office for refugee affairs in Lebanon on the 67th anniversary of the UN agency’s inception.
Hamas said that the fiscal deficit should not be an excuse for the cutbacks in services that were made by the UNRWA in Lebanon.
It added that the UNRWA’s service cuts that affected among others its educational health and aid sectors “have exacerbated the economic situation in Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon.
Hamas appealed to donor countries to fulfill their financial obligations towards the UNRWA in order to help it continue provide its services for the Palestinian refugees.
