Monday 11-June-2007

GAZA (PIC)– Hamas Movement has urged all parties in the Palestinian arena to practice prudence and refrain from any untoward act that could jeopardize the high school examination process in Palestine highlighting that Palestinian students need a peace of mind at this point of time.

“We will not allow a group of vandals alien to the Palestinian culture and values to destroy the future of an entire generation of Palestinian youths and their educational march” Hamas affirmed in a statement it issued and a copy of which was obtained by the PIC.

Furthermore the Movement stressed that all Palestinian parties should stand and morally support the students at this decisive point of their educational life and they should advance the students’ interests over their personal and factional interests.

“We mustn’t kill the future of our students with our own hands” the Movement underlined in the statement.

Taking the model step in this regard Hamas announced it will suppress its wounds although deep and pain not out of weakness but out of concern to give a chance for the coming Palestinian generation to prosper and take its role in the Palestinian struggle.

Around 76000 Palestinian students will take the final High School exam under the new unified curriculum for the first time ever in the Palestinian education history before proceeding to college affirmed Dr. Mohammed Abu Shukair under-secretary of the PA education ministry.

“The unified High School curriculum has united Palestinian educational march in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank and crowned tremendous efforts exerted in this regard since 1995” Abu Shukair further added.

In the past Palestinian schools in the West Bank followed the Jordanian curriculum while those in Gaza Strip followed the Egyptian curriculum.
