Hamas warns of severe punishment to those attacking its leaders

Monday 25-December-2006

GAZA (PIC)– The Hamas Movement on Monday warned that it was running out of patience in face of repeated attacks on its leaders the last of which was shooting at the home of its prominent leader and PA foreign minister Dr. Mahmoud Al-Zahhar.

Hamas said in a press release that those “suspicious” elements figured wrong when they thought that Hamas’ patience was a sign of weakness.

It affirmed keenness on preserving calm stability and Palestinian blood but warned that it would not remain silent for long in face of repeated shootings at Zahhar’s home.

“We are capable of retaliating” Hamas warned adding that its reprisal would be severe and without prior warning.

The Movement reiterated respect to all Palestinians and to all institutions and forces but such respect should not be exploited by certain parties to assail leaders of the Movement and its cadres and institutions.

Hamas threatened to deter those “aggressors” if they don’t stop such attacks affirming that its hands were stretched to all those wishing to maintain calm security and mutual respect.
