Hamas warns of uncalculated ramifications due to coup attempts

Thursday 14-December-2006

GAZA (PIC)– The Hamas Movement on Thursday warned that calling for early elections posed as an attempt to topple the legitimate PA government and would open the door wide open before uncalculated consequences.

The Movement in a statement on the 19th anniversary of its foundation said that the call for early elections posed as a coup against democracy and an invitation for a dangerous strife in the Palestinian arena.

Hamas called for absolute caution in face of repeated attempts to sow strife affirming that the formation of the national unity government is the only road to salvage the Palestinian people.

Hamas clarified that its involvement in politics fell in line with its political and social reformation plans and its attempt to put a halt to robberies bribery and extravagance that impoverished and burdened the Palestinian people.

It said that the contribution of certain parties to besieging the Palestinian people would remain a permanent shame on them and would be remembered as a “black role in tightening the noose round the Palestinian people”.

The Movement asserted that the siege which aims at breaking the Palestinian people’s determination and gaining concessions from them would only boost the people’s insistence on resisting occupation and never recognizing its legitimacy regardless of pressures or sacrifices.

Hamas reiterated its insistence on its strategic option namely resistance in a bid to defeat occupation and renewed its affirmation on the importance of Palestinian unity within and outside the homeland.

It confirmed the Palestinian refugees’ right of return to their original homes from which they were driven out at gunpoint describing such a right as “inalienable”.

Hamas called for a joint Palestinian Arab and Islamic action to preserve Jerusalem in face of the Israeli occupation’s judaization attempts and to protect the Aqsa Mosque in face of threats.

The Movement finally said that the Palestinian prisoners in occupation jails were part and parcel of the Palestine cause and their liberation is a national responsibility.
