The Hamas Movement welcomed on Saturday the position of the United Nations’ decolonization committee that approved a draft Palestinian resolution requesting an advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice on the Israeli colonial occupation of Palestine.
The Movement considered the UN resolution as “a significant achievement and step that can be taken advantage of in favor of the Palestinian national cause and rights.”
For his part member of Hamas’s political bureau Ezzat al-Resheq extended thanks to the countries that voted in favor of the resolution and supported the Palestinians’ right to self-determination condemning the countries that voted against the resolution in complete disregard for Palestinian people’s just cause.
“The Movement highly appreciates all diplomatic efforts being exerted in support of Palestinian national rights” al-Resheq stressed in a press statement on Saturday.
He called on the Palestinian Authority and the Palestine Liberation Organization to proceed with such endeavors and not to cave into any US or Israeli pressures.
