The Palestinian Authority (PA) government’s premier Rami Hamdallah on Wednesday talked to a number of Palestinian youths in a meeting held in Gaza city to discuss ways to address the crises plaguing the Gaza Strip basically unemployment.
Hamdallah said during the meeting that a development bank that offers soft loans is planned to be established in Gaza to help the youths adding that his government will provide support for vocational training and education to help eliminate unemployment.
As for the PA employees in Gaza Hamdallah said that a special committee will be appointed to address the issue.
He affirmed that the power crisis is a top priority for the PA government which is currently seeking to operate Gaza’s power plant using natural gas.
He explained “An agreement was reached a few weeks ago with a Greek company to invest in the gas field “Marine” off the coast of the Gaza Strip and we hope that we will not face Israeli obstacles.”
The Marine natural gas field was discovered in late 1990s and it is still unexploited due to Israeli restrictions.
Hamdallah noted that his government is also preparing a plan to open a new seawater desalination plant in Gaza.
Hamdallah arrived in the Gaza Strip on Monday accompanied by a number of PA ministers at the invitation of Hamas Movement which decided on 17th September to dissolve the Gaza administrative committee as a first step toward reconciliation.
