Hamdallah discusses reconciliation with Mladenov

Monday 16-October-2017

Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah on Monday discussed the latest developments of the Palestinian reconciliation file with the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Nikolay Mladenov at his Ramallah office.

Hamdallah said that his government is working to bring the terms of the reconciliation agreement into effect stressing that reconciliation will boost the government’s efforts to meet the needs of the Palestinian people in Gaza particularly in the water and electricity sectors.

He stressed that achieving national unity will serve as a supportive environment for the approach followed by the Palestinian leadership represented by president Mahmoud Abbas in dealing with the Israeli blockade on Gaza and the Israeli government’s settlement schemes.

Hamas and Fatah movements on Thursday signed an Egypt-sponsored reconciliation agreement in Cairo that provides for enabling the Palestinian Authority government to take full responsibility for the Gaza Strip and calls for a comprehensive national dialogue in November.
