Hamas leader Osama Hamdan said on Sunday that the visit conducted by the head of Hamas’s Political Bureau Isamil Haneyya to Cairo is part of the Movement’s efforts to establish balanced relations with all Arab and Islamic countries.
According to Quds Press Hamdan affirmed that the Hamas delegation’s visit to Cairo was to complete the steps initiated by the Movement several months ago to improve its relations with Egypt.
Hamdan added that all the allegations saying that Hamas interfere in the Egyptian internal affairs are baseless.
He explained that the Hamas-Egypt relations are witnessing a positive shift though they have not reached the required level yet noting that Haneyya’s visit to Egypt is aimed at strengthening his Movement’s ties with the country and discussing ways of implementing all that had been agreed upon during Hamas leaders’ previous visits to Egypt.
Along with a delegation of senior Hamas leaders Haneyya on Saturday left the Gaza Strip to Cairo in a first visit to Egypt since he was elected as the head of Hamas’s Political Bureau.
The delegation will be meeting with Egyptian officials to discuss a number of key issues including Hamas-Egypt relations the Israeli blockade on Gaza and the Palestinian reconciliation.
