Hamas leader Osama Hamdan on Monday warned of US-Israeli intents to smother Palestinians’ demand for their inalienable rights through the so-called “deal of the century.”
“The deal of the century is an Israeli-American project that seeks to liquidate the Palestine cause” said Hamdan.
Commenting on the Cairo-brokered de-escalation deal the Hamas leader said the move depends on the position of Fatah Movement and Palestinian Authority (PA) both chaired by Mahmoud Abbas.
“All factions except Fatah Movement have taken part in ongoing talks about de-escalation. It takes more than one party to make things go right” he said.
“We look forward to more efforts by the Egyptian side so as to end Gaza’s tragedy” stated Hamdan. “We seek to rehabilitate the seaport and airport built in the enclave.”
As for prisoner swap deals with the Israeli occupation Hamdan said initiatives in this regard are not dependent on the truce deal adding that Hamas longs for rewarding swaps.
Shedding light on the role of the Abbas-chaired PA Hamdan said: “Sanctions imposed by Abbas just make part of the blockade imposed on Gaza”.
“Abbas is still impeding national reconciliation” said Hamdan. “Abbas wants to disarm the Palestinian resistance which is unthinkable.”
“National liberation hinges on unity. Hamas is part and parcel of the national liberation struggle” he stated.
