Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya and his deputy Saleh al-Aruri on Friday spoke over the phone with the family of martyr Hussein Masalmeh (cancer-stricken ex-detainee from Bethlehem) and offered their deep condolences over their loss.
The Hamas leaders expressed their sincere sympathy with the bereaved family and hailed the great sacrifice made by the martyr.
They affirmed that their Movement would not stop its efforts to liberate all the prisoners especially those with medical conditions highlighting the issue of the prisoners as “a top priority.”
Masalmeh who suffered from Leukemia died on Wednesday evening at the Istishari Hospital in Ramallah City of health complications which he started suffering from in Israeli jails as a result of his exposure to medical neglect.
He had spent 18 years in Israeli jails where he suffered from harsh incarceration conditions and long medical negligence.
The Israeli occupation authority had released Masalmeh in February 2021 at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem following a serious health decline.
