Haneyya: New efforts to resume national dialogue

Friday 1-January-2021

Ismail Haneyya Hamas’s leader revealed on Friday the presence of new efforts to resume the national dialogue to achieve reconciliation for achieving national unity.

Haneyya said in a press statement “The national unity is the cornerstone of confronting the Zionist occupation and its plans aimed at liquidating the Palestinian cause and canceling our rights to land sanctities and return.”

“We are conducting internal and external contacts to make these efforts and movements a success to complete the steps we have started in our dialogue with the brothers in the Fatah movement and the national and Islamic factions” he added.

He explained that this is to fulfill the requirements of unity by rebuilding the Palestinian leadership institutions whether the Palestine Liberation Organization or the Palestinian Authority (PA) on the basis of partnership and national consensus. This must be achieved according to the will of the Palestinian people through free and fair elections.

In the last months of the last year 2020 a positive atmosphere prevailed with the achievement of national reconciliation after the meeting of the Secretaries-General and the fruitful meetings between Fatah and Hamas. However this atmosphere evaporated with the PA’s announcement of resuming its relations with the occupation.
