Haneyya Qassam insist on retaining Mishaal as Hamas leader

DOHA (PIC)– Palestinian premier Ismail Haneyya has renewed Hamas’s insistence on retaining Khaled Mishaal as supreme leader of the movement.

Haneyya told London-based Al-Hayat newspaper in an interview published on Wednesday that Hamas maintains a balanced relations with each of Iran and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

He said that the Palestine cause was in big trouble and needed support from all Arab and Islamic countries.

Asked whether Hamas was planning to move from Syria to Qatar or to any other country Haneyya said that nothing was being discussed within Hamas institutions on this issue.

The Palestinian premier who arrived in Doha on Monday evening discussed with the Amir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani on Tuesday Palestinian developments especially the national reconciliation and Judaization threats in occupied Jerusalem in addition to the Arab spring.

Meanwhile Quds Press quoted unidentified sources as saying that a senior delegation of the Qassam Brigades the armed wing of Hamas has asked Mishaal to reverse his decision not to nominate himself for chairmanship of the political bureau.

They said that Mishaal met with the delegation led by commander Ahmed Al-Ja’bari last month and that the delegates refused his decision.
