Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya has warned the Israeli leadership of allowing Jewish settler groups to desecrate the Aqsa Mosque and organize their flag march in the Old City of Occupied Jerusalem at the end of the current month calling on the Palestinian masses to be fully prepared to protect the Mosque.
Haneyya made his remarks during a national conference held on Sunday in Gaza to mark the first anniversary of the Sword of Jerusalem battle.
The Hamas leader said that the Palestinian people and their resistance would not condone such intended settler provocations stressing that the Aqsa Mosque is a purely Islamic holy site.
He added that the Palestinian resistance would respond strongly to any attempt by settlers to defile the Aqsa Mosque and rampage through the streets of Jerusalem in the coming days describing the situation on the ground as “completely different after the Sword of Jerusalem battle.”
“Our actions on the ground precede our words in Gaza Jenin Jerusalem and across the West Bank and our people in 1948 occupied Palestine and abroad will not allow such violations” Haneyya said.
He underlined that the Sword of Jerusalem battle brought about strategic shifts and constituted an important turning point in the course of the conflict with the occupation state.
