Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya has affirmed that the Palestinian people and their resistance have many options to confront the march of flags which settlers intend to stage in the Old City of Jerusalem today and any attempt by them to desecrate the Aqsa Mosque.
“We have a trio prepared to deal with the development of the situation tomorrow — the Ummah our people and the resistance — and we are ready for all scenarios” Haneyya stated in a press release on Saturday evening.
“We are dealing with an occupation regime whose time has been long but its demise has neared” the Hamas leader said expressing his belief that the Palestinian people’s ongoing resistance would succeed eventually in achieving their aspirations for liberation and return and declaring Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.
“The occupation wants to make the flag march an incident to circumvent the achievements of the ‘Sword of Jerusalem’ battle and the environment that has ensued following the battle but we want to say clearly that the clock cannot run backwards and that the Aqsa Mosque belongs to us exclusively” Haneyya underlined.
The Hebrew media announced on Saturday that the settler march of flags would start at four o’clock on Sunday afternoon.
Israeli premier Naftali Bennett recently discussed with Israeli security officials the preparations for Sunday’s settler flag march in Jerusalem and okayed his security minister Omer Bar-Lev’s plan over the route of the march.
According to the plan the route would include Jewish marchers going through Bab al-Amud area (Damascus Gate) and the Muslim Quarter and rallying at the Aqsa Mosque’s western wall where the Buraq plaza is located.
