Haneyya: We welcome any initiative that ends Gaza siege

Friday 8-June-2018

Head of Hamas’s Political Bureau Ismail Haneyya on Thursday said that his Movement is ready to deal positively with any initiative that ends the siege on Gaza completely.

“This is possible but not at the expense of the other Palestinian issues” Haneyya said during a ceremony honoring the families of the Palestinian martyrs in Gaza.

Stressing the need for lifting the punitive measures imposed on the Gaza Strip by the Palestinian Authority he affirmed “We will break the siege on Gaza without conditions. The Great Return March protests must extend to the West Bank and Jerusalem.”

Haneyya pointed out that the Great Return March proved despite the “siege and starvation” that the Palestinian people are able to confront the conspiracies plotted against their cause.

He continued to say that the Great Return March protests will continue until Jerusalem is free.

The Hamas leader praised the Palestinian factions’ response to the recent Israeli aggression on Gaza which he added showed that armed resistance and popular protests are two sides of the same coin.

“We fought wars and stood against the Israeli military and every time there was an Israeli and American keenness to break the Palestinian will” he said.

Haneyya warned of some suspicious initiatives aimed at liquidating the central Palestinian issues such as the Deal of the Century.

Haneyya hailed Kuwait for leading a battle in the UN Security Council to condemn the Israeli crimes and seek international protection for the Palestinians in Gaza.

As for the internal division He said that Hamas supports a national reconciliation that starts with convening a National Council that includes all Palestinian factions adding “The resistance and the Great Return March unite the Palestinian people while normalization and negotiations with Israel tear them apart.”
