GAZA (PIC)– Ismail Haneyya the premier of the PA caretaker government has asked the Red Cross to pressure the Hebrew state into re-opening the Gaza crossings and facilitating commercial traffic with the outside world.
Haneyya who praised the Red Cross’s efforts in alleviating sufferings of the Gaza inhabitants said that he appreciated the humanitarian organization’s services and activities.
He assured the Red Cross delegates during a meeting on Friday that his government would extend all facilitates to ensure smooth work of their organization.
For its part the Red Cross members affirmed that the organization’s services would continue in the Strip especially in the humanitarian and health fields.
They pointed out that they facilitated the transfer of a number of Palestinian patients into hospitals in the green line (Palestinian lands occupied since 1948) and extended medical assistance to hospitals in the Strip.
In another matter Haneyya earlier told reporters after the Friday congregation that there was no other alternative to dialogue between Fatah and Hamas movements to solve pending issues.
“We want an inter-Palestinian dialogue without any conditions attached” he asserted noting that a joint national will was needed in order to ensure success of such a dialogue.
