Head of Hamas political bureau Ismail Haneyya phoned on Monday the Malaysian Minister of Foreign Affairs Saifuddin Abdullah and discussed the serious situation in Occupied Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque due to the Israeli brutal attacks on unarmed worshippers to pave the way for Israeli settlers to perform the alleged slaughter in the holy site.
“The Palestinian people will continue defending Al-Aqsa Mosque at all costs and protect the holy site from the Israeli attacks” Haneyya stressed.
Haneyya called on the Arab and Islamic countries to condemn the repeated Israeli attacks on Palestinian worshippers and the aggressive practices at the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
“The Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is exerting strenuous efforts to de-escalate the situation particularly at the Al-Aqsa compound” Saifuddin Abdullah said expressing his disappointment over the recent Arab normalization meetings with Israeli FM Yair Lapid.
Scores of Palestinians were injured and hundreds arrested after Israeli police forces attacked the Palestinian worshippers in the Al-Aqsa Mosque in the last few days.
