Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya phoned on Thursday the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov and discussed the current political and field developments in Occupied Jerusalem and besieged Gaza.
Haneyya hailed the positions of the Russian state and its considerable support for the Palestinians confirming that Russia and Palestine will always maintain a strong relationship.
The Israeli attacks against Palestinians in Occupied Jerusalem Gaza Strip the West Bank especially Jenin camp and in 1948 Occupied Palestine are brutal crimes against international law according to Haneyya.
The Israeli occupation authorities must be held accountable for violating the freedom of worship for both Muslim and Christian Palestinians and arresting worshippers in Al-Aqsa Mosque with an intent to divide Al-Aqsa Mosque and change the status quo at the holy Islamic site the Hamas leader said.
Lavrov for his part condemned the Israeli attacks on unarmed Palestinian civilians and reiterated his country’s stand in support of the just Palestine cause and for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and establishment of their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
He called for Palestinian national unity and expressed his country’s readiness to exert efforts toward that end.
