Haneyya calls for Arab-Islamic plan to salvage Jerusalem

Tuesday 27-December-2011

CAIRO (PIC)– Palestinian premier in Gaza Ismail Haneyya has called for an Arab-Islamic plan to save Jerusalem from the Israeli occupation’s schemes including extending financial and political support.

Haneyya addressing a press conference in Cairo on Tuesday charged the Israeli occupation and settlers of waging a “rabid” campaign against Islamic shrines pointing to the burning of mosques and copies of the holy Quran.

He said that occupation is null and void and hence any change it makes on the occupied land topped by Jerusalem is also null and void.

The premier urged the Arab and Islamic countries to highlight the issue of the 6000 Palestinian prisoners still languishing in Israeli jails.

He also renewed rejection of surrendering the right of return describing it as a “sacred right”.

Haneyya called on the Arab countries to facilitate reconstruction of Gaza in accordance with resolutions passed by various conferences.

He said national reconciliation is a strategic option and a national necessity advocating confidence building measures to facilitate its implementation.
