Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya on Tuesday called on leaders of Arab and Muslim countries to take urgent action against Israel’s planned annexation of the Jordan Valley and large parts of the West Bank.
In a message sent to the leaders of more than 40 Arab and Muslim countries Haneyya said that the annexation is a new aggression added to Israel’s black record of crimes against not only the Palestinian people but the entire Arab and Muslim nation.
Haneyya called for holding an Arab-Islamic summit to announce a united stance rejecting all settlement and Judaization projects in the West Bank and Jerusalem and US-backed plans to liquidate the Palestinian cause.
He also demanded that political diplomatic and economic strategies be formulated to protect the Palestinian national project and the Palestinians’ right to freedom and an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
He stressed the need for a united and serious action in order to put an end to the escalating Israeli terrorism and pressure the Israeli government to halt its Judaization and settlement expansion projects in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
The Hamas leader said this action should involve the criminalization of normalization with Israel adding that Israeli governments throughout their history exploited their relations with some Arab and Muslim governments to entrench and expand their occupation of Palestine.
He emphasized that the Palestinian people will not stand idly by and will continue to defend their lands and rights and confront Israeli terrorism with all possible means of resistance.
He reiterated that Hamas is keen on national unity as a strategic option and an essential part of the national liberation project and expressed the movement’s readiness to take part in any meetings or dialogues aimed at establishing joint actions to confront threats against the Palestinian people at different levels.
