Ismail Haneyya Hamas’s leader called on Qatar and Turkey to participate in monitoring the Palestinian elections and to convince the international community to respect the election results.
This came in letters sent on Sunday by Haneyya to Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during which he expressed his appreciation for Qatar and Turkey’s stances towards the Palestinians.
Haneyya also explained the details related to the course and results of the Cairo dialogue as Qatar and Turkey are one of the guarantors of the agreement along with Egypt and Russia according to a statement issued by Hamas.
He asked Qatar and Turkey through their relationships with the international community to pressure Israel not to obstruct the holding of elections especially in occupied Jerusalem.
Hamas’s leader confirmed that his Movement is committed to implementing all that has been agreed upon and will work according to its national responsibility to provide a free and necessary environment for elections.
Palestinian elections are scheduled to take place in three stages during the current year 2021: legislative on May 22 presidential on July 31 and National Council elections on August 31 according to a previous presidential decree.
