Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya has described the threats that were made recently by Israeli leaders against Gaza as “unacceptable” calling for necessarily curbing Israel and preventing it from persisting in its aggressive practices against the Palestinian people.
This came in a telephone conversation between Haneyya and Tor Wennesland special coordinator for the Middle East peace process during which the two sides discussed recent political and field developments.
The Hamas leader stressed the need for the UN to play a major role in restraining the occupation state from persisting in its aggression against the Palestinian people
He called for putting an end to all the Israeli violations in the occupied Palestinian territories including settlement activity desecration of the Aqsa Mosque and the blockade on Gaza.
He also highlighted the Israeli closure of Gaza crossings and its decision to tighten the siege on Gaza and urged the UN to end the current Israeli escalation against Gaza.
Haneyya expressed hope that the UN could assume its humanitarian responsibilities to the fullest towards the Palestinian people especially the refugees.
