Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya has congratulated speaker of the Lebanese parliament Nabih Berri on his re-election to the leadership of the parliament.
“We wish Lebanon during the new parliamentary sessions every political economic and security stability and well-being so that it can continue its role in supporting the Palestinian cause and the right of return” Haneyya said in a phone conversation with Berri on Wednesday.
Lebanese lawmakers re-elected Berri as parliament speaker Tuesday for a seventh consecutive term.
Berri is a noted Lebanese politician who has led the Amal Movement in the country since 1984. He has also chaired the Lebanese parliament since 1992.
