Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya sent a congratulatory message on Monday to Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan president of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the occasion of his country’s 51st National Day.
In his letter Haneyya expressed his warmest congratulations to Sheikh Mohammed on the National Day and his sincere wishes to the Emirati people for further progress and prosperity as they celebrate the creation of their country’s federation which emerged thanks to the foresight of its founder the late president Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
It was on December 2 1971 when the rulers of Abu Dhabi Fujairah Dubai Ajman Sharjah and Umm al-Quwain agreed to unite their emirates into one country under the guidance of the UAE’s founding father and first president Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Ras al-Khaimah decided to join the union later in February 1972 becoming the seventh emirate.
