Haneyya declares readiness to meet Abbas in Saudi Arabia

Tuesday 11-September-2007

GAZA (PIC)– PA premier Ismail Haneyya has announced his readiness in a telephone conversation with Saudi crown prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz to meet PA chief Mahmoud Abbas in Saudi Arabia without any pre-conditions to discuss all pending issues.

A press release issued by Haneyya’s office said that the premier’s step aimed at salvaging the worsening conditions in the Palestinian arena and uniting Palestinian lines in face of Israeli schemes aimed at liquidating the Palestine cause.

Haneyya’s phone call with prince Sultan was to congratulate him over the advent of the holy fasting month of Ramadan the release pointed out.

Hanneya said that what happened in Palestine reflected “differences between brothers” stressing his insistence on having dialogue without any conditions attached on the basis of the Makkah agreement. The premier also asserted his government’s insistence on the Makkah agreement in its capacity as the groundwork for a comprehensive national reconciliation.

For his part prince Sultan appreciated Haneyya’s stand and his insistence on the Makkah accord promising to convey the message to King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz and also promised to work for alleviating the siege on the Palestinian people.

However an official spokesman for Fatah movement declared its refusal of any Abbas-Haneyya meeting or any other encounter between Fatah and Hamas movements.

Ahmed Abdul Rahman the advisor to the PA chief and Fatah spokesman set the condition that Hamas should give up its military conquest in Gaza.
