Gaza – The PA Prime Minister Ismail Haneyya on Friday described a meeting he had with the PA President Mahmoud Abbas on Thursday as positive indicating that they will meet again later without specifying a time for the meeting.
He told reporters after the Friday prayers in Gaza that the meeting was within the framework of completing the consultations between Fatah and Hamas on the formation of a national unity government.
He added that the committee made up of Hamas and Fatah member is to meet Friday evening to discuss details of forming the government.
In replying to a question regarding news that the government will be announced in Cairo he said that the matter was being discussed with President Abbas adding that the aim of such a step is to have international guarantees that the siege will be lifted and the suffering of Palestinians ended.
Regarding the European initiative Haneyya said that the initiative has positive aspects and worth considering and that his government will study the initiative and reply to it once they officially receive it.
He commented on the Israeli prompt rejection of the initiative saying it was a proof that Israel does not want any kind of stability but rather the reinforcement of destruction and blood letting warning that it was Israel which rejects the language and the culture of peace pointing to the continuing massacres against the Palestinian people.
Meanwhile President Mahmoud Abbas denied on Friday rumors that he rejected Dr. Muhammad Shubair’s nomination for Prime Minister of the intended national unity government.
