GAZA (PIC)– Ismail Haneyya the premier of the PA caretaker government mandated on Sunday the ministries of interior and information to investigate the assaults on journalists in the Gaza Strip on Friday and to punish the assailants in addition to mandating the information minister designate to visit the assaulted journalists.
This came during Haneyya’s meeting with a delegation from Palestinian journalist bloc in his office in Gaza to discuss the latest developments at the level of press freedoms particularly the recent assaults on a number of journalists last Friday where Haneyya expressed deep regret at what happened.
The premier criticized at the same time the blackout policy practiced by media on the dominating bright side in the Gaza Strip while it highlights some rare negative sides pointing out that although the dark sides are the dominated feature in West Bank the media ignore that and shed light on some sides of stability there.
For his part Taher Annono the head of the governmental commission of communicating with and supporting journalists and the government spokesman highlighted the commission’s efforts to address some of the stumbling blocks in the work of executive force affiliated with the interior ministry regarding journalists underlining the government’s keenness on providing all the guarantees for freedom of journalistic work.
For his part Yasser Abu Hain the head of the Palestinian journalist bloc expressed his appreciation for mandating the ministries of interior and information to follow up the issue.
