Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya on Thursday met with a high-level Egyptian security delegation in the Gaza Strip.

The PIC reporter said that senior Palestinian officials from Hamas the Islamic Jihad and Popular and Democratic Fronts for the Liberation of Palestine attended the meeting which was held at Haneyya’s office in Gaza.

Haneyya discussed with the Egyptian delegation the ongoing ceasefire talks with Israel the Palestinian national reconciliation and the Rafah crossing crisis.

Haneyya briefed the delegation on the current threats facing the Palestinian cause particularly Israel’s Judaization schemes in Jerusalem and the ongoing settlement expansion on the West Bank lands.

He called for lifting the Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip as soon possible and stressed that the Great March of Return will continue until it achieves its goals.

The Hamas leader touched on the violations committed by the Palestinian Authority security services in the West Bank and said that a national reconciliation can only be achieved by a comprehensive dialogue on the basis of the 2011 agreement.

He appealed to Egypt to push for breaking the siege on Gaza and help alleviate the suffering of the Palestinians there by facilitating their travel through Rafah crossing in both directions.

The Egyptian delegation affirmed that Egypt is currently working toward a well-established ceasefire agreement between Israel and Palestinian resistance groups in Gaza.

They also said that Egypt will spare no effort to help the Palestinian people in Gaza noting that Rafah crossing will remain open in both directions.

The Egyptian security delegation arrived in the Gaza Strip on Thursday via Beit Hanoun (Erez) crossing a visit that coincided with Israel’s decision to block the transfer of Qatari funds to the besieged enclave.
