Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya met on Wednesday in Beirut with Sheikh Abdul-Latif Derian Grand Mufti of Lebanon and discussed with him different issues related to the Palestinian cause.
In a statement released by his office Haneyya applauded Sheikh Derian for his stated positions on Jerusalem the Palestinian people and their national cause.
During the meeting the Hamas leader expressed his solidarity with Lebanon regarding its rights to gas and natural resources and congratulated its people on the success of the parliamentary elections.
He briefed the Lebanese Mufti on the latest developments in the Palestinian arena especially with regard to the Israeli violations in Occupied Jerusalem and at the Aqsa Mosque and highlighted the role of the Jerusalemite citizens and their compatriots from across the occupied territories in defending and protecting the Aqsa Mosque.
For his part Sheikh Derian expressed his support for the Palestinian people and their inalienable rights and hailed their legitimate struggle against the Israeli occupation state.
