Head of Hamas’s Political Bureau Ismail Haneyya on Friday said that what is happening in the Gaza Strip will affect the Palestinian scene.
In a brief speech he delivered during the opening of a new mosque in Gaza city Haneyya said that Palestine is a central issue in the region.
Haneyya said that a first-of-its-kind tripartite meeting was held earlier on Friday between Hamas the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Nickolay Mladenov and an Egyptian delegation to Gaza.
The Hamas leader explained that the meeting addressed the latest political developments in the Palestinian territories and the situation in Gaza mainly the Great March of Return.
Local sources said that Hamas’s chief in Gaza Yahya al-Sinwar and his deputy Khalil al-Hayya joined the meeting.
According to the PIC reporter Mladenov arrived in the Gaza Strip on Friday morning via Beit Hanoun (Erez) crossing.
Yahya al-Sinwar on Thursday met with the Egyptian security delegation to Gaza headed by major general Ahmad Abdulkhaliq.
A senior Hamas official told the PIC that the meeting which was held behind closed doors addressed the current situation in the Gaza Strip and the latest developments in the Palestinian arena.
The PIC reporter said that the Egyptian delegation led by Abdulkhaliq who is in charge of the Palestinian file in the Egyptian Intelligence Service arrived in Gaza earlier on Thursday via Beit Hanoun (Erez) crossing.
The same delegation visited the coastal enclave on 10 and 11 January and held meetings with Haneyya Fatah movement and other Palestinian groups.
