Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya has mourned the passing of Sheikh Mohamed Siyam former preacher of the Aqsa Mosque who died on Friday morning in the Sudanese capital Khartoum.
In a statement released by his office Haneyya expressed his condolences to the Palestinian people and the Arab and Muslim nations over the death of Sheikh Siyam.
The statement hailed Sheikh Siyam as a great national figure a revered religious scholar an Arab writer and a symbol of the Islamic Movement.
“Siyam has passed away after he lived a dignified life defending with pride the Palestinian right in all arenas corridors and events” the statement said.
Haneyya also phoned the son of Sheikh Siyam and offered his sincere condolences on behalf of the Hamas leadership at home and abroad.
