Haneyya phones Abbas Nakhalah on Israel-UAE deal

Saturday 15-August-2020

The head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya on Thursday evening phoned the Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas and the secretary general of the Islamic Jihad Movement Ziyad al-Nakhala to discuss the new peace deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Haneyya Abbas and Nakhalah confirmed their rejection of the US-sponsored peace deal and agreed that an immediate joint action is needed against this agreement and all acts of normalization with the Israeli occupation.

The three Palestinian leaders stressed that this deal fuels the Israeli occupation’s plans to further liquidate the Palestinian cause.

They also underlined that the Israel-UAE peace agreement does nothing but serve Israel’s interests and harm the Palestinian people and their just cause.

They made it clear that all Palestinian factions are united in condemning the UAE’s decision to publicly and officially normalize relations with Israel.

The US president Donald Trump on Thursday announced that an agreement had been reached between Israel and the UAE to fully normalize relations.

According to Trump the deal would lead to greater cooperation on investment tourism security technology energy and other areas.

The US president described the agreement in Twitter as a “historic diplomatic breakthrough” that “will advance peace in the Middle East region.”
