Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya on Thursday phoned speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly Marzouk al-Ghanim and applauded his position against the Israeli Knesset delegation at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) conference which was held recently in the Russian city of St. Petersburg.
On the final day of the five-day IPU conference on Wednesday Ghanim forced the Israeli parliamentary delegation to leave the hall after he took a sharp jab at Nachman Shai deputy speaker of Israel’s Knesset accusing him of representing “state-sponsored terrorism” and calling him “a child killer and occupier.”
“You have expressed the conscience of the nation towards the Palestinian people and supported the Palestinian cause in a place where such support is needed” Haneyya was quoted as saying during the telephone call.
“You have brought back Palestine and its cause into the spotlight during this event after they were almost erased by years of Zionist lies and unjust bias from the [world’s] powers” the Hamas official added.
He also conveyed the pride and gratitude of the Palestinian people from all spectra for “the blessed step” which speaker Ghanim had made before the whole world.
For his part Ghanim expressed his thanks for the phone call affirming that his position at the IPU conference was a moral and national duty towards the Palestinian people.
He stressed that the Palestinian people would never lose their rights as long as they strive after them voicing confidence that the Palestinian people would achieve victory sooner or later over the occupation state.
