Head of Hamas’ political bureau Ismail Haneyya has expressed his thanks to Egypt and its support for the Palestinian people and their national cause.
This came during a telephone conversation on Monday afternoon with Sheikh Ahmad al-Tayeb Grand Imam of al-Azhar Mosque.
Haneyya also exchanged Ramadan Mubarak wishes with Sheikh al-Tayeb and thanked him for the aid convoy sent recently by al-Azhar al-Sharif to the Gaza Strip.
The Hamas official valued the position of al-Azhar al-Sharif on the Palestinian cause in general and Jerusalem in particular during the conference it had organized about two months ago in Cairo.
He also hailed the historic role of al-Azhar al-Sharif in supporting the Muslim nation’s issues and the Palestinian cause.
