Haneyya proposes temporary Red Cross administration of Rafah terminal

Tuesday 10-July-2007

GAZA (PIC)– Ismail Haneyya the premier of the PA caretaker government on Tuesday proposed that the Red Cross would temporarily administer the Rafah border terminal between Egypt and Gaza.

Haneyya speaking at his office during a 3-hour meeting with a selection of Gaza university professors suggested as a rapid solution for the ordeal of those stranded at the Egyptian side of the borders that the Red Cross would run the crossing.

He did not rule out allowing private companies to run the terminal at a later time firmly rejecting the use of Karm Abu Salam under Israeli control to allow the trapped Palestinians into Gaza.

He further championed national dialogue to find a solution to the internal political crisis away from foreign dictates.

Betting on the American administration and Israeli occupation is a waste of time because a solution would never be imposed regardless of the pressure means be it international forces siege or use of violence Haneyya underlined.
