Political Bureau head of Hamas Ismail Haneyya met on Wednesday with Egyptian security officials who arrived in the blockaded Gaza Strip last week to broker intra-reconciliation talks.
The meeting was held at Haneyya’s home in al-Shati refugee camp in Gaza city. The Egyptian delegation was led by intelligence official Sameh Nabeel who is in charge of the Palestinian file.
The meeting has been the second of its kind held over the past couple of weeks.
Last week a Hamas delegation led by Haneyya wrapped up a three-week round of meetings in Cairo.
Egyptian security officials entered the besieged Gaza Strip two weeks ago to follow up on the progress of national reconciliation between Hamas and Fatah.
Egypt which brokered the reconciliation agreement signed on 12 October last year also dispatched the security delegation to follow up the handover of the enclave’s institutions to the Fatah-dominated Palestinian Authority.
The delegations held several other meetings and discussed the humanitarian situation in Gaza the reconciliation and border security among other alarming issues.
