Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya has received a call from Ali Akbar Velayati Foreign Relations Advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on Sunday evening.
During the phone call Velayati praised the Palestinian people for defending Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
“We are following up your major triumphs and achievements. You’ve set an example for the Muslim world” he told Haneyya.
The senior Iranian diplomat said that he has issued a statement which represented his country’s position hailing the Palestinian national struggle against the Israeli occupation.
Haneyya meanwhile expressed his appreciation to the Islamic republic’s constant backing for the Palestinian people cause and resistance.
“Iran represents a strategic asset for the Palestinian people and resistance” Haneyya continued reiterating that the Palestinian people will continue to defend the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The top Hamas official briefed Velayati on the Israeli occupation’s crimes and violations at the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
