Ismail Haneyya Hamas’s leader received a phone call from Peter Maurer President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in which they discussed the repercussions of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
According to a Hamas statement on Tuesday Maurer briefed Haneyya on the role and efforts of the ICRC in the Gaza Strip especially in the medical and urgent relief field in contributing to repairing the damaged health facilities and infrastructure and in cooperating with the Ministry of Social Development to help the affected people and humanitarian cases.
Maurer praised the cooperation from government agencies in the Gaza Strip and the continuous coordination looking forward to more joint work to protect citizens and to promote respect for international law and humanitarian law.
For his part Haneyya praised the efforts of the ICRC and invited its president to visit Gaza and to closely examine the situation there and the results of the Israeli aggression against the Strip and its citizens.
He also invited him to visit Jerusalem and the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and check the conditions of citizens the occupation’s attempts to displace them demolish their homes and the measures taken against Muslim worshipers and holy sites.
Maurer expressed readiness to accept the invitation in the near future.
The Hamas leader called for the Israeli occupation leaders to be held accountable for their crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip and the flagrant violations in Jerusalem.
