Haneyya renews calls for national dialogue appeals for opening Rafah terminal

Saturday 7-July-2007

GAZA (PIC)– Ismail Haneyya the premier of the PA caretaker government has renewed his call for a serious national dialogue grouping all Palestinian factions to deal with the root cause of the Palestinian crises.

Haneyya was speaking after a visit Friday night to Aqsa TV network’s cameraman Emad Ghanem who was deliberately shot by IOF soldiers east of Breij refugee camp in central Gaza on Thursday. Ghanem had both his legs amputated due to the cruel IOF shooting that continued to target him even after his initial injury.

Haneyya told reporters that the only way out of the current Palestinian political deadlock was to initiate dialogue based on common convictions.

The caretaker premier denounced the IOF crimes during its Thursday incursion near Breij refugee camp that left 11 martyrs and many others wounded.

He urged the human rights groups and international institutions to visit Gaza and see for themselves the results of the IOF aggressions.

Haneyya then welcomed the return of the Egyptian security delegation to the Gaza Strip adding that it would be granted all facilities to perform its mission.

He also appealed to Cairo to end the tragedy of thousands of Palestinian passengers stranded at the Egyptian side of the Rafah borders and urged for opening the Rafah terminal to enable 6000 Palestinians trapped there to enter the Strip and go back to their homes.

Israel had forced the closure of the crossing three weeks ago when Hamas took over control of security in the Strip to end rampant security chaos that left many people dead or injured.

For his part Ghanem told Haneyya that he would continue working to expose “Zionist crimes” and would not consider himself handicapped but would rather continue to perform his national role.
