GAZA (PIC)– Ismail Haneyya the PA prime minister has started a reshuffle in leadership of the PA security apparatuses as he had earlier announced in a bid to start implementation of the PA security plan on the ground.
Governor Faisal Mohammed Al-Sheikh alias Kamal Al-Sheikh was appointed as general director of the PA police apparatus replacing Brig. Gen. Ala Husni who was promoted to be an assistant of the PA interior minister in the northern governorates.
Mohammed Al-Madhoun the director of Haneyya’s office confirmed the new designations adding that more designations will take place in addition to activating the joint operation room in order to ensure swift and precise implementation of the security plan on the ground.
Haneyya also held a meeting with the Egyptian security delegation in Gaza city where he confirmed that his government was supporting a comprehensive reciprocal and simultaneous truce affirming “The ball is in the Israeli court”.
In this regard Haneyya hailed the role that Egypt is playing in enhancing Palestinian unity and in defusing tension in the Palestinian internal arena.
“We are hopeful that inter-Palestinian dialogue in Cairo will fold forever a painful stage in the Palestinian people’s history and would turn a new page before a genuine political partnership and serious dialogue on restructuring the PLO” Haneyya highlighted.
Haneyya also met with PA chief Mahmoud Abbas at the presidential headquarters in Gaza city and discussed with him Palestinian internal matters and the Israeli military escalation in Gaza Strip.
The meeting took place although Israel threatened to assassinate Haneyya and other Hamas political leaders.
According to Nabil Abu Rudaina the spokesman of Abbas the Abbas-Haneyya talks discussed the IOF aggressions on Gaza Strip and the West Bank in addition to efforts underway to reach a reciprocal and comprehensive calm.
He added that both leaders were determined to fold the page of internecine fighting in the Palestinian arena once and for all and that they discussed ways and means to resume the peace process in a way that would achieve Palestinian national aspirations in establishing their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Futile meetings:
Mohammed Nazzal Hamas’ senior political leader and member of its political bureau deprecated Abbas’ declaration that he will meet with Israeli premier Ehud Olmert soon describing such meetings as “useless and futile”.
During a press conference he held with the EU parliament speaker in Ramallah city Tuesday Abbas announced that he will meet with Olmert soon to discuss a truce.
But Nazzal stressed that Israel is the only party that benefits form such meetings to market itself as a peace advocate although its occupation troops killed and wounded hundreds of Palestinian civilians with two weeks of incessant bombarding of Gaza Strip.
“Unfortunately Abbas’ announcement doesn’t meet Palestinian aspirations and ambitions. Our stand in Hamas over such meetings is self-evident; yet Abbas is acting in his capacity as the PA chief and chairman of the PLO; however he doesn’t pay attention to the Palestinian public opinion otherwise he wouldn’t have called for such a meeting while IOF troops rock Gaza Strip” Nazzal explained.
Nevertheless Nazzal disregarded that his remarks would widen the gap between Hamas and Fatah saying “We are very much concerned with maintaining a cordial relationship between PA presidency and the PA government as we focus on the points of agreement and not that of disputes”.
