Haneyya urges Biden to redress unjust decisions on Palestine

Sunday 8-November-2020

Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya on Saturday called on US president-elect John Biden to correct the unjust political trajectory that had been taken by the previous administration towards the Palestinian people especially with regard to the deal of the century.

“The unjust US policies have made the United States an accomplice in [Israel’s] injustice and aggression caused damage to the stability of the region and the world and crippled the US ability to be a central player in resolving conflicts” Haneyya said in a statement.

“Our Palestinian people have suffered over the past decades from the American administrations’ bias in favor of the occupation but president Trump and his administration was the most extreme in their support for the occupation at the expense of the Palestinian national rights” the Hamas political chief underscored.

He urged the elected administration to renounce outgoing president Donald Trump’s deal of the century and revoke his recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and his decision that led to the relocation of the US embassy to the holy city.

He also called for reversing Trump’s decisions regarding the issue of the Palestinian refugees and his suspension of the US financial support for UNRWA.

Haneyya also asked the new US administration to respect the Palestinian people’s will their democratic choices and their national struggle and to refrain from pressuring regional countries to normalize their ties with Israel.
