Hanini: The Palestinian people will foil Israel’s settlement plans

Tuesday 14-June-2022

Senior Hamas official Abdul-Hakim Hanini has said that Israel’s settlement expansion is a “war crime” and its plan to devour vast tracts of Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank in order to build a national park “aims to impose a new fait accompli.”

In press remarks on Monday Hanini affirmed that the Palestinian people and their resistance would “stand in the face of such plan as an impenetrable wall.”

The Hamas official stressed the need for the international community and its humanitarian and legal institutions to break their silence and hold the Israeli government accountable for such settlement crime.

He asserted that the ongoing youth uprising across the occupied territories would deter the occupation and the comprehensive resistance would remain the optimal way to liberate the Palestinian land adding that “what was taken by force can only be restored by force.”

On Monday Israel Hayom newspaper revealed an Israeli plan to establish a national park for Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank on a vast area between Jerusalem and the Dead Sea.

Israel Hayom said that the plan would change the face of the region especially from a political perspective.

The project is located in an area between the settlement of Kochav Ha’shachar in the east of Ramallah the Gush Etzion settlement bloc and the Dead Sea and will cover half of the area between Jerusalem and the Dead Sea according to the Hebrew newspaper.
