Father Atallah Hanna Archbishop of the Palestinian Orthodox Church in Occupied Jerusalem has strongly denounced the Israeli authorities for preventing the holding of a Palestinian symposium on the sale of Christian mortmain real estate in the holy city.
During his meeting on Thursday with dignitaries and national figures in Jerusalem Father Hanna said that the Israeli police cordoned off St George Hotel in the holy city and the participants in the symposium from going in.
He described this measure as “a serious action reflecting the gravity of the Israeli scheme targeting the Christian presence property history and heritage in the holy city.”
“They are stealing and devouring our mortmain real estate while at the same time they prevent us from holding seminars aimed at exposing the seriousness of such policy and practices” the Archbishop said.
He called for necessarily organizing similar seminars in other Palestinian cities and towns to raise public awareness about the issue.
